Publisher: U.S. Games. Printed in Switzerland.

Comments: From the back of the box we learn the 22 Major Arkana cards feature all 12 deities of Olympus plus other classical gods & demi-gods, though none are named on the cards. In the four suits, Swords represent warlike Milan, Staves represent artistic Florence, Cups represent Venice, Coins represent Rome. Images of the art, architecture and city symbols of these four great cities turn up in the background of the court cards, which are King, Queen, Knight & Page, but the cities are not otherwise identified on the cards themselves. The back of the box says the minor arkana cards also represent planets, constellations, seasons & elements, though these largely escaped our notice. Human/god figures on the Major Arkana cards are clothed, while figures on the minor arkana cards, from 2 - 10, are entirely nude. In the corners of these minor arkana cards are keywords for each but you will need a strong magnifying glass to read them. Upper left, Italian keywords, upper right, English. Invert the card & the upper left is the inverted Italian keyword, upper left, inverted English.

To us the Major Arkana cards look Renaissance, the minor arkana cards look like Grecian vase art. The pastel colors, while beautiful, seem neither Greek nor 16th century, which gave us chiaroscuro, after all. A beautiful deck.
