Llewellyn's 2009 Daily Planet Guidebook

More Llewellyn Annuals: Llewellyn's Astrological Wall Calendar Llewellyn's Daily Planet datebook Llewellyn's Pocket Planner

General Description:
Llewellyn's datebook shows both EASTERN & PACIFIC times. Summer entries are adjusted for Daylight time, which in 2009 begins on Sunday, March 8, and ends on Sunday, November 1. Like the Llewellyn wall calendar, all aspects are timed. Monday through Thursday are shown on the left-hand pages, Friday through Sunday on the right.

For 2009, a variety of holidays are marked, including US civil (ie, Mondays), Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Purim, St. Patrick's, April Fool's, Palm Sunday, Easter, Passover, etc. The daily aspectarian includes the signs the planets are in (look closely at the page to the left). Usefully, eclipses are noted in the daily listings.

The Daily Planetary Guide has long been a solid, dependable book.

Again this year: "Your best opportunity periods", by Jim Shawvan. Introductory notes on pgs. 68-73 tell how they're calculated. Descriptive text appears once or twice a week. In the illustration to the left, under January, the text reads,

Mercury Note: Mercury enters its second Storm (traveling less than 40' of arc per day) on Wednesday as it gets ready to go direct. Some things may seem more "messed up" until Mercury gets out of its Storm on February 8.
The type used for these notes is rather tiny. Astrologers are increasingly having fun with all the various permutations of Mercury's orbit, as seen from the Earth. I had not heard of "Mercury storm" before.

Continued:
Before the weekly pages:

Following are the 2009 calendar pages themselves, from page 78 to 183 (inclusive). To make the layouts fit, the book includes December 29-31, 2008, and January 1-3, 2010. Except for January 1, 2010 there is no astrological data for dates in 2008 & 2010. (There is, of course, full data for all dates in 2009.)

After the calendar pages:

The Daily Planet Guide, and the Astrological Pocket Planner, both give Eastern & Pacific times. In the Daily Planet, Pacific times are in bold. In the Pocket Planner, Eastern times are boldfaced. This is confusing. They need to agree.
