Comments: A deck inspired by long study of Pythagorean philosophy. The deck has the usual four suits of 14 cards (Wands, Swords, Cups & Pentacles), court cards are the usual Page, Knight, Queen & King. Oddly enough, all Pages are nude males, and of the Knights, only the Knight of Wands is male. The other three are female. There are the usual 22 major arcana cards. In this deck, the Fool is refreshingly called the Idiot. There are fancy pictures on the major arcana & court cards. Pip cards have only the requisite number of objects.

This deck works rather well as an ordinary tarot deck. The accompanying book is a major esoteric treatise, the sort of thing that most folks would never look at if a tarot deck wasn't wrapped around it. On the back of the book it says, "....we owe a major debt to Pythagoras for our understanding of the tarot...." This is patent rubbish (presumably supplied by the publisher) & to the author's everlasting credit, he demolishes this statement in the first pages of the book. It is to Llewellyn's credit that they have here published a fascinating, somewhat academic study of tarot, Pythagoras, numbers & much more. Tarot decks, for all the work that goes into them, are ephemeral. They appear & then disappear a few years later. Such will probably be the fate of this deck. But it is my wish the book, at least, remain. It is an amazing work. It will repay close study.
