Measurements: 2.92 x 5 inches, or 74 x 127 mm.
Back of card: Prettier than most of the fronts. A graded bluish-violet field, with a red mystic triangle (and other magical symbols) in one neat package in the center. Not for inversion, though in practice you might not notice.
Booklet included: Regrettably, cannot call it a book. 16 pages, 6.2 x 5.05 inches, or 156 x 128 mm, horizontal format. There are Kabbalistic diagrams, but none of the cards are shown.
Publisher: Society of the Inner Light (SIL Trading Limited). Country of manufacture not given.
Comments: Dion Fortune (nee Violet Firth), 1890-1946, was the most celebrated female magician of the 20th century, easily the equal of the better-known Aleister Crowley, whom she knew. Magicians don't come any more exalted than this. It is therefore a disappointment to see a tarot deck, issued in her name, which, for the major arcana, is a poor copy of the Marseilles tarot, and for the minors, a poor copy of the Rider-Waite. (It otherwise reminded me of the Dali Tarot.) The artist & commentator, David Williams, is currently the Warden of the society which she founded.
The deck is based on Fortune's book, The Mystical Qabbalah. Qabbalah (or Kabbalah) has never much interested me, so it may be the deck goes over my head.
Although this is packed (and priced) to look like a deck & book set, the book inside is too thin to properly claim that title. Most of it is taken up with an overview of Qabbalah. The major arcana are given a single page, the minors get two. An interesting detail: The major arcana is packed separately from the minors.
