Aside from the French & miscellaneous books at the bottom of the page, this is the only book on this page which is NOT oversize. It's a regular size book.

Aside from six pages of explanatory notes, in English, pasted into the inside front cover, the rest of the instructions in this book (pgs. 23-51, inclusive) are in German. The English notes say this book gives the diurnal or daily logarithms for 0 - 24 degrees or hours, and also the entire tenar-proportional logarithms of five digits from 0 to 180 degrees. My knowledge of numbers did not permit me to check this.

If you're curious, this is the Walter Koch who gave us Koch houses. On pg. 2 is his chart. I am pleased to report he was consistent. He used Koch houses.

This classic was superseded by Thomas Shanks's American Atlas. Doane's work is a do-it-yourself manual. Using some other source to find the latitude & longitude of the city in question, you then consult the various suggestions, maps & guides in this book to guess at the proper time zone, and if standard or daylight. Includes maps of Indiana (one of the worst states), 1955-79, documenting the insane time struggles in that state. This book DOES NOT include information about time changes after the date of publication, ie, nothing since 1980.

In the past when I've been asked for this book, I've pointed people to Shanks's book, which is far easier to use. If there's anyone out there who'd like a copy of this book, well, here's your chance.
